Welcome to Room 26 !

Helpful Hints for Starting School
- Room 26 is a Reception Class and the main aim is to settle your child into school, help them make friends and introduce them to the wonder of learning!
- The bell goes at 8.50. It is best if your child is here before this time to be settled for the school day.
- To promote independence, encourage your child to manage their own belongings and to put these away each day. School bags, lunch boxes and book bags all have a place in our classroom. Daily reading books are to be placed in individual book boxes.
- It is important that book bags are brought to school each day so children can receive a new reader.
- Clearly name all items of clothing and make sunhats personally identifiable in some way, so your child can recognize instantly, e.g. badges or embroidery.
- Lost property can be located in the Senior Block behind the auditorium.
- Starting school is a significant milestone for your child and you. Children are adapting to a new environment and a longer and more structured day. Settling into school takes time and children may experience separation anxiety when leaving their parents, but generally settle down quickly once the school day is underway.
- Once a Term we host a ‘Coffee Morning’ for new families where we talk about our school and important things you need to know. Jeanine or Penny talk about the school programme and how you can best support your child. Your attendance is highly recommended!
- Our aim is to work with you to best support your child through this exciting transition period, so if you have any concerns about how your child is settling in, please see Jeanine.
